What Does a Field Guide for Multi-Internationally Designated Areas Do?

Completion of Field Practitioners Workshop

Highlighting the Importance of Field Interpretation and Strengthening Cooperation Across Interpretation Fields

The Global Research and Training Centre for Internationally Designated Areas Under the auspices of UNESCO (GCIDA) successfully held the "Multi-Internationally Designated Area Field Practitioner (Guide) Workshop" in Jeju from December 18th to 20th.

This workshop consisted of theoretical lectures on the four Internationally Designated Areas (UNESCO World Natural Heritage, UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, UNESCO Global Geoparks, and Ramsar Wetlands) and Multi-Internationally Designated Areas (MIDAs), a field trip to Jeju's Biyangdo Island, and group discussions.

More than 30 interpreters, including natural environment interpreters, geopark interpreters, cultural tourism interpreters, and World Natural Heritage interpreters, participated in the workshop. During the event, they discussed integrated interpretation strategies for Multi-Internationally Designated Areas and explored solutions to common challenges.

GCIDA stated, "Based on this workshop, we aim to enhance the expertise in interpreting Multi-Internationally Designated Areas (MIDAs) and contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of Internationally Designated Areas."
